HUNTER CLASSES

Pre-Short Stirrup

Open to riders 10 years and under. Riders may enter other walk/trot classes only.

Short Stirrup Equitation

Open to riders 12 years and under. Entries may not cross enter into classes where they would jump over 18”.

Short Stirrup Hunter
(Tentative description: Open to horses and ponies ridden by riders 12 and under. Riders, horses, and ponies may not cross enter into any other VHSA Associate Division with the exception of pleasure pony or pleasure horse. Riders are limited to no more than two entries in this division.)

Student Equitation

Open to all riders in their 1^st or 2^nd year of showing at fences at 2’ or higher.

Green Pony Hunter

Open to ponies ridden by juniors in their first year of showing over fences.

VHSA Associate Pony Equitation

Open to juniors on ponies. At least one fourth of the class will be called back for a flat phase.

Maiden Hunter

Open to horses or ponies in their first year of showing over fences at 2’ or higher as of 12/1/07. May trot or canter over fences.

Low Hunter

Open to all horses or ponies. No restrictions on riders.

Green Hunter

Open to horses in their first or second year of showing.

VHSA Associate Children’s Equitation

Open to juniors on horses.

VHSA Associate Adult Equitation

Open to adult amateurs on horses.

Working Hunter

Open to all horses and ponies.

RULES

1. Ribbons to sixth place. Champion and Reserve in all divisions. Carter Oak Points as follows: 1^st –5 points, 2^nd- 3 points, 3^rd – 2 points, and 4^th – 1 point. Division champion – 5 additional points; reserve champion – 3 additional points.

2. In order to qualify for year end awards, entries must show in at least three shows during the season.
3. Proof of negative coggins within the past 12 months required.

4. Appropriate attire is required. Boots and hard hats must be worn when mounted. Juniors must have harness securely fastened.

5. Age of rider is determined as of December 1, 2007.

6. Carter Oak Show Stables, Goodenough Farm, their employees and associates will not be held responsible for any loss, accident, or injury during this show. Entry onto these grounds constitutes agreement and knowledge thereof.

7. A $25 fee will be charged on all returned checks.

8. No dogs allowed on show grounds.

9. Each class must have at least 2 entries to be held, and 3 entries for VHSA and BHSA points to count.

10. This show is an associate member of the VHSA and a member of the BHSA. Every class offered herein, which is covered by the rules and regulations of the current VHSA/BHSA rule books will be conducted and judged accordingly.

11. Management reserves the right to refuse entries, cancel and/or combine classes if necessary.

12. Unjudged rounds will be permitted at the regular entry fee, if time permits.

13. In case of a tie, points won over fences will be the deciding factor.

14. No martingales in under saddle classes or the flat phase of the equitation classes.

15. Judge’s decisions are final!
