General Camp Information

Each camp session will be 5 days long from 9:00am to 2:00pm.  The minimum age accepted will be 7 years old.  Our goal is to build confidence and independence in riding and handling horses in a safe and fun environment.

Students will need a well fitted ASTM approved riding helmet.  Students should ride in long pants, a hard soled lace up boot with a slight heel, and a tucked in shirt.  They may change into shorts for other activities.  Students should also bring a bagged lunch and a water bottle each day.

Each camp week will culminated with an exhibition for the parents at the end of the camp day on Friday.

The cost of Carter Oak Summer Ccamp is $400 per session.  A $200 nonrefundable deposit is due with your camp reservation form to hold your slot. 

Beginner I-II

June 16-20 

This camp is offered to children who are comfortable walking and trotting in a group lesson situation and may be learning to canter.  Participation will be limited to 8 riders per session.  Each rider will be assigned a horse for the week.  They will groom and tack with assistance.  Weather permitting they will participate in two riding lessons per day.  The students will be encouraged to set and pursue personal goals during the week.  Emphasis will be placed on barn saftey and general horse care.  Additional activities will include a variety of crafts and mounted and dismounted games. 

Camp activities will include a variety of crafts, mounted and dismounted games.  Teh students will also have the opportunity to ride bareback.  In each session students will set personal goals to work towards throughout the week. 

Each camp will cumlminate with a presentation at the end of the camp day on Friday.  Family and friends will be invited to attend.  The presentation will be followed by an awards reception.

Beginner II-III

June 16-20 

This camp is offered to children who can walk and trot independently, and who may have started cantering or jumping.  Participation will be limited to 8 riders per session.  Each rider will be assigned a horse for the week.  They will groom and tack independently.  Weather permitting they will participate in two rides per day.  The students will be encouraged to set and pursue personal goals during the week.  Emphasis will be placed on barn saftey and general horse care.  Additional activities will include a variety of crafts and mounted and dismounted games.
